How To Make A Fluffy Chair – For a long time I wanted to try making a stool out of leather. I saw them being updated on Youtube and Pinterest and decided to try it myself. I went to Ikea and bought one of the Marius stools.
I couldn’t believe the price of the seat. The stool costs 3.50 euros, I searched Pinterest for ideas to find the Marius stool. I decided to turn it into a leather stool for my office. Recently, I was at Home Appliances Press Day. On one of the change boards, I saw a combination of red and gold. This inspired me to color my stools.

My office has a lot of gold accents. I was torn between marble and gold, but I landed on gold. I also managed to get my hands on a fantastic pink pillow. Making your own is very easy. This is the perfect DIY to complete in an afternoon.

Please do not skip the gas station. The legs of the chair are metal, I recommend using a primer to prevent chipping of the gold paint. I have used this paint for several projects and I always use it as a base coat.
I applied a base coat and allowed it to dry completely before applying two coats of shiny gold spray paint. Your spray paint will come in handy, I have a lot of paint left in cans, so I have plenty left for another project.
Be sure to check the drying time on the back of the container. I always use spray paint outside, you can also use it in your shed, but only in a ventilated area. Always be careful not to inhale the air from the cans. I always apply two thin layers of paint.

If you are new to using spray paint, practice a little before you spray paint your project. You don’t need pops or cut points for your project. Take your time and be patient. I found it easy to spray the legs when assembled.
I gathered the legs and sprayed them lightly. This way I got less drops and was able to spray faster. I didn’t have to wait for one side to dry and flip.
We have been looking for the perfect pillow or rug for this project for a long time. I saw a small pink rug in Dunnes Stores, but I found it difficult to wrap a few pillows in the wool rug, so I decided to look for a fluffy pillow.

I tried the usual home improvement stores without success. Then I remembered seeing some beautiful fluffy pillows in TK Maxx and HomeSense. I went to the TK Maxx store in Blanchardtown and found the perfect pink pillow.
The pillow was about 20 x 20 inches, which was the perfect size to place the top of the stool on the back of the pillow. I then used a sharp knife to cut holes for the screws to add the legs to the top. Click on the Youtube video below to better understand how I did it. I will also include pictures below to give you a better idea of how I did it.
Once you are happy with your paint job and have successfully added leather to the top of the legs, you can have some fun designing your new chair. At the moment, I like to experiment with color and texture in my home.

Lately, I’ve been very busy at work remodeling our dining room. I love inviting people over for big lunches and fun dinners, but our dining room had some issues and it got to the point where it was an uncomfortable place to gather. Our old Formica table is starting to wobble a little in the middle and the edges of the table top are starting to slip. Our metal chairs have legs missing from their covers, which means that every time someone gets in or out, the floor is scraped. When our friends visit us, we usually sit at the table, chat or play, so it is important to make this place comfortable.
Diy Faux Fur Chair Covers And Cushions
The first thing I did was to choose an easy chair that was affordable. The IKEA chairs were just what I was looking for, within my budget, and I was able to have them delivered directly to my home. The kids weren’t happy with them because they were hard wooden chairs and not the comfortable ones we had in the past. The first part of this DIY is the solution to that!
Step one – choose the size of the pillows. I chose insert pillows instead of cutting foam to size because I wanted them to have extra padding. Lay out the cushions and decide how much vinyl you will need for each cushion. My pillows were 16″, so I cut 18″ squares each.
The second step. Once you’ve cut your fabric, it’s time to sew! Place two pieces of vinyl wrong side up and sew a 3/4 seam. I gave my pillows a curved edge because I found it a little softer than a sharp edge. When you’re 3/4 of the way out, place two pieces of tarp 2″ or less from the corner. Use your machine to sew about 12 inches down the center of the two remaining open corners. Be sure to leave a good-sized hole for in the middle of this last corner is where we’re going to stuff the pillow!

The third step. If you decide to bevel the edges like I did, now is the time to trim the edges to get a nice edge after you roll the vinyl. After each corner is done, turn the vinyl right side out and insert the cushion. Go ahead and close the hole with a blind stitch, and voila!
Use canvas straps to attach the cushion to the chair! I chose vinyl for my pillows because I knew they would be easy to clean!
To make the dining room feel more welcoming, I wanted to add a soft touch. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with beautiful (faux) fur, so I started making soft covers for our chairs.

Step One: First measure your chair and determine how long the cover is. Once you have your numbers (mine was 18″ x 44″) cut the wool neatly. Try to get as close to the tissue/under the skin as possible. If you cut it like normal clothes, you will have fur that looks like it was just given to the doctor, completely cut. Cut the same cotton fabric.
Step two: it’s time to put something on! Spread the wool so that the rough side is facing up. Place one piece of canvas in the upper right corner and one piece in the upper left corner. Place another piece of trim 14 inches (give or take depending on the length of your fabric) from top to bottom on each side. Place the cotton fabric on the skin and cut it right side down. Pin all the edges together, leaving a space in the bottom right corner.
Step Three: Sew the edges, remember to leave a space in the bottom corner. After you’ve gone all the way, turn the lid right side out. Sew the space and attach it to a chair!
