Whatever the reason, there are 2 main ways to create a table in Canva and another that can help depending on the table you want.
The first way to create a simple table in Canva may seem a little time-consuming, but once you get the basics down, it won’t take long.
Start by creating a document of the size you need for the finished item. The American font is popular because it is easy to type.

Decide how many columns you want and whether you want them to be the same size or if you want some of them to be different than others.
Now that you have a starter for your table, you can copy a cell and move it to the position of another cell.
If you want more than one column, repeat the process until you have the appropriate number of cells for the columns.

You can continue copying the top row, or you can use the mouse to grab all four cells and copy them, then move them into place.
Then, if you want more than one page, duplicate the page. You can remove the header if you don’t need it, take all the margins and center them on the page.
To sort them, get all the boxes in a row. Then click on the Provision tab and use the Edit option.

This type of design creates a simple table style, similar to a table, but can be used directly in Canva.
Any line can be used for this, but for this demonstration I’ll show you a simple straight line.
Place the first line at the top of the page or, if you want a header, below it.

Next cell. Here you simply copy the top or bottom row and move in place to create individual cells.
If you’re having trouble moving each of them into place and evenly spaced, highlight all the horizontal lines.
Then select the “Vertical” option in the “Position” tab. This will distribute them evenly across the space from top to bottom.

Then you can add features like a text box for the title cell, a background color, or even cell attributes if you want.
If you go to templates in the sidebar and type “calendar” in the search bar, the templates will appear.
Some of these will have editable tables that you can use. They often come complete with a table frame and even a box or two for additional information.

Some are not in the table style, so scroll until you find one that looks like you want.

Before you start creating your table, estimate on a piece of paper how many “columns” and “rows” you will need for your table.
Since you will be creating “cells” in your table, you also need to consider how much text to add to each one. This will help you get a rough idea of how big you need to make each “cell”.
So, open your Canva template and start adding headers. As an example, I’m using a customer booking form.

As with all working documents, it’s useful to use the margins as guides to ensure that all the elements you add are perfectly aligned.
To add a field header to the sidebar, choose Elements → Square Border. Click once to add it to your template.
Hold and drag the side buttons to change the shape of the square border until you get the shape you want.

You will now begin to create “rows” and “columns” for your table by creating individual “cells”. Any text will be added here.
Click once on a square to display it in your template. The square is the “cells” inside your table.
Drag the corner buttons to reshape the square to make it the correct size for each cell.

If cells are the same size in each row, save tons of time by doing multiple rows, grouping, and duplicating.

This will copy the text box with the exact same font style as before and ensure consistency throughout the table.
