How To Make A Pallet Coffee Table – My favorite part of this schedule is the story. It seems like each of our kids always has a project we want to finish before they arrive. This project is no exception! We finished it around 11pm and our daughter was born the next day. A last minute project that turns out great! We seem to do well under pressure!
I enlisted my husband to help me turn a delivery box into a new coffee table (I was nine months pregnant at the time, so he came to mind). His desk has a few extra half panels that are the perfect size. We wanted something smaller than what we had so we could roll over to get to the couch. We pierce the nearest two numbers (which are a few inches apart). I love that these items are thrown together with rivets and screws. The wood is completely different and they don’t care if they line up (I guess they don’t need it since it’s for shipping…not the coffee table).

1) Align some of them with transport panels to get the desired shape and height. We ended up cutting about an inch off them to get a closer fit (but not perfect…their charging pad is great!)

3) Sand the surface of the panel with medium grit sandpaper to prepare it for painting.
4) Color both platforms with the color of the place you want. Remember that most plywood is made from different types of wood. Stains look different on every piece and every panel. Be sure to wipe off any excess stains until it is dry.
5) Leave overnight. Spray multiple stain removers with polyurethane spray. Remember to follow the instructions on the package. We made several t-shirts using over 4 hours to dry in space. After three layers, the table is a bit sticky. We used 220 grit sandpaper and lightly sanded both surfaces to remove the stickiness.

Note: Before we linked the bases together, we decided we wanted the table to be a little taller. We took some of the 2x4s we had left in the garage, sanded them and placed them on the bottom of the five support beams. This raised the table 4 inches but did not change the look.
