It was built about 30 years ago from unfinished raw oak. So now when we film it, it starts doing the old “death swing”. My father built it many years ago to make it a decent shooting range.

This old bench was a “picnic table” with only left side seating for right handed shooters. The 100- and 200-yard targets were built around the same time and fell apart after multiple shots.

That’s why I’m looking for ideas for a good shooting bench. I want to build this from treated wood and then soak it in water. I am looking for more effective models for both left and right handed people. I am also looking for design suggestions for a good target post framed with machined 4×4 or 6×6 posts. I already had this many trees, so I started down this path.

Feel free to post pictures of shooting racks you’ve made that you like. There is only one range within 100 yards in my area. Because most people only shoot their property. So I don’t see many examples of this outside of the “picnic table”.

Stuckey style welded steel frame with tubular legs. I made the counter out of 1 1/4 OSB with a polyester coating. After a few years of bad weather I reshaped the top and covered it with corian…added a cooling pad to keep the rifle cool and protect the ammo from the sun. Store your feet in it for transport. Cut off the handle for safe carrying or standing.

Corian is good for bipod shooting. The legs tend to slide straight back instead of doing a bipedal jump, which reduces accuracy.
