For extra tall 12′ stands, or more than 8 stands, I recommend adding one or two X-foot sections for support.

Here is a photo of the couch side of the room today. After a quick walk around the entire family room, I take pictures of the entire room.

Let’s get started. The dimensions in my tutorial are for the table 32.5″ H x 78″ W x 12″ D. You can customize the table to fit your needs.

You’ll also need: wood stain in the color of your choice (I used Minwax Special Walnut), a level, a drill or screw, glass (or ask the store to cut the wood to size), wood glue, a clip or two, and wood screws.

Remember safety first! Wear safety glasses when cutting wood. You may also want to use ear muffs to protect your ears from the chainsaw noise and a respirator to keep the smoke out of the tank.

Step 1 – Touch each piece of wood and allow to dry. I painted most of the wood front and back, but there were a few pieces that I didn’t paint until the table was completely assembled.

Step 2 – Cut six pieces of 2×4 to 31.75 inches long for the table legs. Place the three cut pieces of wood side by side and use wood glue on the side to hold them together. Make sure your legs are straight and even on your toes. Press the glued wood pieces together and dry the glue according to the instructions on the glue bottle.

Step 3 – Attach one of the flat metal brackets to the inner bottom of each leg with leg screws. Make sure the screws are not too long and they go through the wood. This gives extra stability to the legs.

Step 4 – Place a 1×12 long board on top and attach each leg end to end using L-shaped angle brackets and wood screws. Place the brackets to allow the center bracket to be added to the room. I placed each leg 1.5″ from the end of the board. Be sure to glue the leg so the side of the leg is facing inward with the flat bracket. Make sure the wood screws are short enough that they don’t go through the wood.

Step 5 – There are two central supports. Fit the remaining 2×4 to your leg. The first support is under the table, at the top. Place the stand in the middle of the table. Turn the 2×4 on its side and attach it to the frame with two wood screws through the outside of the table legs.

Step 6 – Attach the second bracket to the bottom. Cut the last 2×4 to fit between the legs. Use a level to make sure the frame is level side to side, and drive wood screws from the edge of the leg to the end of the bracket.

Step 7 – Apply the stain to other surfaces and allow to dry. I also smoothed out the spots on the metal pieces
