I literally walked away from it, I begged…simply because I hated the idea of bringing home decor from a thrift store that wasn’t thrown in the washer and dryer. I’m afraid every thrift store dress has some dirt on it that I don’t want to bring home.

Diy Wingback Chair Reupholstery (before And After)
The chair was very old and smelled disgusting like it was a “miracle” piece that just needed replacing.
It wasn’t hard to set up a new website (see Part 3 below) and tidy up the rest of the kit. I admit that I didn’t fully realize how long this session would last. I thought 6 makeup sessions would be enough, but damn, I was wrong! This seat was very complicated. Every small step feels like a great victory and an impossible mountain! I signed up for 3 sessions of 6 weeks (18 classes, give or take depending on my availability). I don’t have it yet!
Since this project is huge, I will post updates on this blog once it is completed.

So after going through this remodeling project, I have a new appreciation and respect for furniture. As a do-it-yourselfer, if you plan to make more than one bench, these tools and materials are worth investing in. A great idea is to make a decorative toolbox. But if you only plan to make one chair, I recommend paying a professional. While it is costly, doing it yourself can be costly and time consuming.
If you are like me and absolutely love the learning process and intend to reuse the material, do it!

The adjustable seats are shaped like an onion. Piece by piece. I was surprised to hear that there were very few sewing items. True, except for pipes and tubes.

** After removing each part, mark it with its location and number. Episodes are played in the order they came out, and while this step may seem lame, it’s really important to keep them in order**
Fold the sheet and turn the seat so that the legs are in the air. Start by removing the staples from the black area under the seat (usually black material). Remove all visible staples.
This is the most painful and frustrating part of the process. Don’t overdo it. It doesn’t sound like much, but the bottom and back staples took the longest for me.

Remove cardboard and tubes (if applicable). Then set the seat upright. The front is the back.
The best way I can explain this is to use a screwdriver between the edges of the fabric (on the side) and pry the board off the seat. The board looks like a long strip of hardware.
