For the legs I used four 1.5″ x 1.5″ pieces cut 14.75″ long. For the top frame I used 1″ x 4″ lumber. I cut the long side to 19 inches and the short side to 14 inches. The stretcher the bottom one used 1″ x 2″ wood cut to the same length as the top stretcher.
I then used Kreg’s pocket hole template (the one I have) to drill two pocket holes in the end of each bracket.
Then use wood glue on the other end of the long part of the bracket and place it against the leg so that the parts are parallel to the top and back (that is the side that will be placed on your work surface) Guaranteed. A right-angle Kreg clamp was used to hold it securely and secured with a screw. (Kreg right angle brackets are needed for projects like this, get them here.)

After attaching these long top beams to the legs at each end, I repeated the process with the bottom beams.

After joining the other long side, I attached it to the other support side of the short side.
Finally, I flipped the three sides together and attached the short frames to the four sides.
The Kreg Pocket Hole Template and Kreg Square Clamp make this project super quick. This project has taken about an hour so far.

Finally, I cut a piece of 3/4 inch plywood to fit the top and attached it with wood glue and 16 1.5 inch nails.
Now my chair is ready to be foamed, buffed and clothed… but imagine lining the top of the plywood with 1 x 2 inch boards, filing the corners and staining or painting the whole thing. Can you? It would be great!

The best way to attach the legs to the base is to drill 1-1/2 inch pocket holes in the bottom using 2-1/2 inch hole screws and adhesive.
