How To Make Crown Molding With A Table Saw

How To Make Crown Molding With A Table Saw – I just installed the molding and had trouble keeping the molding in place, which affected the accuracy of my cut. To make this job easier, I made a plastic casting jig for my miter saw. This allowed me to take advantage of the plastic molding, allowing me to focus on reducing tension to make the mold stable.

When I’m only working with a 16-foot strip, I try to eliminate as many mistakes as possible. For me, this means being able to protect and keep the plastic strip enclosed in the saw.

Wreath molding templates are designed to hold the crown molding in an “upright position” so you can cut it while it’s hanging on the wall. This means you cut the molding up and down and back on the saw.

This jig holds the casting perfectly as it will be on the wall, just upside down.

A few months ago I found a laminate and oak table on the sidewalk outside our house. I didn’t think much of it, but when David came home and asked if I could see the table outside, we decided to check it out. We’re not sure, but we put it in the parking lot and forgot about it for a few months.

Want to know the best? It’s a free start! I bought white paint for this and other projects, but other than that we have everything on hand!

A few weeks ago I printed the table when I got the printer out and filled the holes with wood putty. Last weekend David was playing with some wood and found a mold that we bought (from Habitat Restore) for another project, but ended up not using. Fits perfectly on existing legs for a seamless transition. Like it was made to go there! David cut it to size and cut a notch in the top to attach the existing table top. You only see it when you’re under the table, so we don’t worry about covering it.

We use wood glue for the edges of the plastic strip and fasten it to the base with small screws.

To complete the base, we set a bracket of 1×6 and then trace three more. David cut them out with a jigsaw and attached them to the base with wood glue and finished with nails. Then we fill all cracks/seams and nail holes with wooden putty.

After sanding and cleaning with a microfiber cloth, I used my favorite primer, Zinsser Cover Stain. It sticks to bright surfaces (although best to sand first) and is SUPER durable!! I use two full coats and three top coats for long lasting results. It is oil based, so it stinks, and the brush must be cleaned with mineral water (or use cheap products).

Since the top is laminate and will see a lot of use, I decided to add a few coats of water based polyurethane. Oil-based polyethylene turns yellow under the light, so water-based is best for the white color.

It is the best addition to our office! Add space for working and eating. It is neither big nor small and the balance makes it easy to move around.

Do you see anything else?? Finally we finished another Eames chair!!! A little tutorial later 🙂 I plan to put up some chairs that I saw recently when they were renovated. If you are interested in Instagram updates. And then the Eames chairs come back to the table.

I had originally intended to paint the top in the same color/pattern, but I think the simplicity and contrast work well with the other colors and patterns in the room.

Finally, I created some prints with text and printed as technical prints at Staples. The quality is the same as a laser printer (which), but at $1 each, it’s an affordable option for large prints! I was inspired by Kristin’s adorable sweet pictures found here.

You can download “Goodbye to the Little Things” HERE. Includes two 16×20 prints and one 5×7 print. You have to cut the 16×20 yourself or Staples can do that too. I print 5×7 at home. Enjoy! 🙂

The advantage of custom molding is that you have a variety of materials to choose from for your look. If necessary, you can improve the design by adding curvature. If you are into crafts, this might be the choice for you too. You can choose a color that matches your room decor so that it doesn’t look out of place with your other furniture and/or wall decorations.

Some may think they have an advantage with pre-made molds, but that’s not always the case, because they don’t have to give the customer what they want or need.
