How To Connect Wire In Socket – The UK plug (also known as UK plug, type G plug or BS1363 standard plug by IEC = International Electrotechnical Commission) is a three pin plug used to supply power to electrical devices and appliances. There are many types of three prongs, e.g. Type A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, etc., but 3-pin type G is more common in UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, in Malta, Malaysia, Ireland, Cyprus, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Israel and other countries which follow IEC regulations in whole or in part.

The direct terminal must be connected to the brown wire (from the wire). It will carry voltage (and current) from the source to the load. Direct terminals are also called Hot, Line or Phase terminals. The active screw terminal is electrically connected and fixed to the safety fuse input while the fuse output is connected to the active pin.

Cable clips are used to prevent cable tension during normal operation and to release cables from screw terminals. The cable clamp or trigger should be securely fastened around the cable after connecting the cable to the appropriate terminal.

I have a weird problem with my home network that I’m trying to fix. Please see images below….

EDIT: Just to add more info…since I’m tired of walking up and down stairs all the time, I removed the ports from the wall and used a stripped cable between them. The top image is a photo of them on my desk and the removed cable is 3 inches long.

The test automatically redirects to the existing router and connection (eg my XBOX). I can’t get the link light and no power light, is the port itself faulty?

After Tetsujin and Tony’s answers, I ordered a suitable tool to tighten the cable and a network cable tester to see which ports were on. Thanks to Amazon – I’ll be able to report the results tomorrow.
