How To Build A Dining Bench – Good luck guys! Today I'm sharing a DIY built-in dining room chair tutorial that my husband and I completed over a year ago. Shame on me for sitting on this for so long, but better late than never. I've shared it many times on Instagram, but finally it's time to share a full tutorial. It was my dream to add a bench somewhere in our house and the only thing I thought was missing was a perfect corner. Well, walking through this room the other day, I realized that the back wall would be a good place to store a small built-in dining chair, especially since there was a wall-to-wall corner.
At first, my dining room was decorated with pictures, as you can see below.
How To Build A Dining Bench
I first found an oval style oak table that fit better at my local Goodwill. I re-stained the oak table using my trusty ‘oak table refinishing' method. Adding this table allowed for one extra chair, so I knew a DIY built-in dinette would be a great addition.

I really like the character that it adds to an ordinary classroom building, but when I decided that I wanted to add a seat, I knew that to get a really finished look in the area, we had to start by removing it. form. from the part where we wanted to add a bench. That way, when the bench is built, we can add a template that shows the rest of the room.
We removed the mold by removing the mold around the mold. All in all, it was easier than I thought it would be and the design started right away.
To determine the size of the chair, we measured the total length of the wall, the width and the height of the wall. We chose the frame height from the standard seat height, which is 18 to 20 inches.
How To Make A Diy Dining Table Set
So we went to our local Home Depot and bought a 4-10 foot long and a 2-8 foot long 2×4. Once we got the dimensions we wanted, we simply cut them into 2×4's based on our measurements.
Using our stud finder, hubby marked the places where he wanted to put the 2 × 4. To get the best support, it is better to use wooden boards, install the screens and screw directly into the support.
We then measured the sides and nailed the wood to the supports of the smaller pieces again. Our sides were 22 inches.

We bought L brackets to connect the side pieces to the long front and back pieces. They did what was worshiped most carefully.
In the front we used the same 119.5 inch pieces that we used in the back. We finally had the perfect box.
To strengthen this box, we added pieces of wood cut to the height of the top and bottom. You can see what I'm talking about in the picture below. .
Build Log: Dining Table
We drilled in the studs to attach the back pieces. We used straight nails to attach the front parts.
We used drywall to repair the mortar and grout to repair where we removed the molding. I highly recommend completing this part of the process before construction
These steps should be repeated until the affected areas are smooth and invisible. Smooth to the touch is more important than appearance. This process is known as oil coating. It took me about 4 times to repeat this process to get a nice finished wall.
Beginner Farm Table (2 Tools + $50 Lumber)
Next we focused on building the outer structure of the bench, using plywood cut to our desired dimensions. We decided to divide the seat and do it in two parts so that there is no overlap. It made sense to have two.
We did this by adding a 2×4 in the middle before adding the plywood for the bench.
To finish the bench, we used pre-sanded flat plywood, which was $35 a sheet. You can choose cheaper wood, however, you will spend a lot of time searching for wood that is smooth enough to stain.

To attach the plywood to the front, we used wood nails in the 2×4's that were in the seat frame.
We used four metal brackets to connect the chairs so that the chair can be opened and closed.
After the molding was added, I used my HomeRight paint brush to paint everything with a nice coat of white paint.

I used foam and gray linen that I bought at Hobby Lobby to make the seat cushion.
I just hot glued the fabric to the foam and used telro to hang it on the chair.
If you want, I keep the paint palette and other things inside as needed. It's really nice to have a place to store different things.

So that's it. The seat is over. We've had this chair for a year now and it's one of my favorite things in the house, and we'll be helping out with the renovation of this space that will be on display next week.

DIY woodworking projects often require a large investment in tools and materials, but not this DIY farmhouse table. We built it with matching chairs for $145 using materials from wooden bins.
Ikea Hack: Farmhouse Table
Begin by cutting 4-by-4-inch leg blocks (A) to a length of 29-1/2 inches. Use a table saw to cut the leg blanks to the final width and thickness. Use a miter saw to cut the pieces to the final length (see image of the Harvest Table and Bench Project).
For the other table bases, cut long aprons (B), short aprons (C), square aprons (D), and aprons (E) to width and length. Cut a 45-degree miter on both sides of the corner brackets (as shown in the project image) and drill a 1/4-inch hole in the front of each bracket.
Drill the pocket hole screws on the long and short aprons and stretchers (Project Diagram 2). You will need to set your pocket jigsaw so that it will not draw material that is 1 inch thick. Sand all parts with 220 grit sandpaper.

Begin building the base by attaching the long and short aprons to the legs with wood glue and 2-inch pocket-hole screws (see project diagram). Place the aprons 1/4 inch from the outside of the legs.
Attach angle brackets to each corner of the table. To attach them, insert 2-inch pocket-hole screws into the blocks without making pocket holes in the aprons. Tip Check out our screw buying guide to learn more about the different types of screws you can use for your patio table plans.
Use a 3/16-inch drill bit to drill a pilot hole in the corner of the leg, then insert it into the 1/4-inch hole you drilled in the corner of the corner. Fasten the leg with a 1/4-inch socket head cap screw to secure the angle joint.

To complete the table assembly, add fabric to the middle of the long apron with wood glue and pocket hole screws.
Prepare four 2-inch by 10-inch boards for the top slabs (F). Cut the boards to length, cut to width and then cut to final length. Sand the pieces with 220 grit sandpaper.
To begin the finishing process, sand all the rough surfaces and the table base with 220-grit sandpaper to ensure a smooth finish. Then wipe the wood with a cleaning cloth. Place the wood base on the tiles. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to prevent the guide from turning into stains on soft wood. Apply the wood stain to the tiles with a foam brush. After the stain has dried, apply three coats of semi-gloss polyurethane to the base of the table and counter. Dry each layer; Lightly sand between coats with 320-grit sandpaper to remove stains.
The Project Lady
Lay a 2-inch by 4-inch piece of wood sand on the floor and place your tiles face down. These parts will prevent the finished parts from being written down. Line up the edges of the tiles and place them face to face. Place the table assembly on the studs and fasten the table base to the slabs with 2-inch pocket hole screws.
