How To Make Your Own Ironing Board – Hey friends! This week, I’m sharing a tutorial from my Bedroom Challenge Laundry Room project, this time with a DIY ironing board and iron stand made to better organize your space. The great thing about this project is that I can use scrap wood. This means I only have to pay for the hooks and hangers. I like junk goods because they’re always free. Yes, I know I’ve already paid for the sticks at some point. But the wood is parked in my garage. Who knows what made it take so long to get free wood chips and free space in my garage!

My laundry is MEH before I do my chores around the house…the iron is still stored in the box on the wall shelf. Next to the dryer, the ironing board.

The next one…it’s great. Now I have a dedicated place to store my ironing board. So I lifted it off the floor to make room for the ironing cart I made.

How To Make An Ironing Board Cover (free Pattern)

Mine is 12-1/2″ wide, 14″ tall, and 7″ from the wall. Please note that these dimensions are suitable for my iron and ironing board. But you may need to adjust these measurements slightly if your dimensions or design change a lot. I added tips on what to measure with tips in the Create Success section later in this post.

This build uses only a few materials and tools. This makes it a great project for beginner carpenters. Here are the details of what you need.

As I mentioned earlier You will need to measure your iron and ironing board before you assemble it. as you may need to adjust the measurements slightly to suit you. If you’re still confused this is what i mean

Look at the legs of your ironing board. Here’s what I am and what I measured. The “legs” measure 14″ in total length and measure about 7-1/2″ at the center.

Now there are a lot of iron tables that do not have straight legs. They look more similar in the photo below. for a design like this one The steel plate holder must be wide or high.

The flat iron is designed to support If the length of the iron is too long You can place the iron face down like I did or stand upright. My iron measures 4-5/8″ wide x 5-1/2″ deep x 10-1/2″ high, storage dimensions 5-1/2″ x 11″.

To hang on the wall I used French curtains. The ones from Hangman are great as they are made for wallpaper. and you know their level Wall mount

I use 10″. Don’t judge on the back of the steel plate and steel sleeve. This side is close to the wall. It doesn’t have to be pretty!

At the beginning of January I decided that my closet needed a major cleanup/reorganization. It took me a few weeks to reorganize my closet and add some new pieces. I think this will be more effective in the long run. (more on next post)

I completed about 90% of my restructuring, then I started working back and forth and the last 10% took the longest to complete.

But before I get too busy I made myself a new ironing board first! Yes, the table! There is no smoother ironing board for me! I remember using the blunt end of the steel plate and ignoring the sharp end.

I always love the large tables set up in the clothing store where I work. (Usually multiple irons share a large surface) I have a desk at home!

Because I know anyone who sews will want a piece for yourself. So I took a lot of pictures so you can do it too =)

I’m not sure how long IKEA has been around. But I just discovered This is the size/height I am looking for for a steel table base. and is real wood Bonus drawers and shelves are also included!

So, for $149.00, I had the perfect table base without me having to redesign it from scratch. (I still find it funny that the cutting board is the most expensive piece of furniture in my dressing room!)

The NÓRDEN NÓRDEN sideboard measures 47½” long x 16½” wide x 35⅜” tall, but the top surface is a bit small. I wanted something that wasn’t too big and would fit on the wall without the metal plate blocking the cupboard doors.

First, I made the side table according to the IKEA comic book instructions. because I came up with a simple plan own to increase the space without changing the original design.

I needed a larger surface than a sheet metal 13½” wide x 53″ long (until taper). I decided that a 60″ length would be the right size to fit my space. and long enough to find a yard of iron cloth at one time from the rail to the welding machine.

I also decided not to take up too much space in my 19″ wide closet. I didn’t want the dresser to feel cluttered by other furniture lining up.

We cut each square dowel into three 3-inch, 14.5-inch, and 18.5-inch pieces. The smaller 3-inch pieces are a good size. The dowel will not obstruct the front drawer sideboard. Size doesn’t matter as long as you can frame every corner of your existing tablet with the cover on.

We flip the IKEA and put it on the fan. and mark the base in the center of the longitudinal fan . ).

Then we put extra plastic under everything. This way we can drill through the top of the fan without worrying about penetrating the carpet underneath.

Let’s start with two small front pivots. We aligned them with the sideboard edge and drilled holes through the first set of dowels and the new top layer.

Then we unscrew everything. Put the bolt on top (the part that faces the ground during drilling) and a washer and nut attached to the bottom dowel.

Next we do the same with one side of the bladder – since this piece is longer. So we drilled holes at each end.

We continued drilling, mounting and gluing caps one at a time to make sure everything fit and snug around the side panel.
