How To Make A Table Setting – My favorite project is doing nothing. In my opinion, creating a magical place doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming, and it can be done with what you have!

When I took a picture of the post I shared yesterday about making a meaningful Thanksgiving, I took a few pictures of how I put together our table using some common recipes and some produce! It’s so easy and it makes this dish even more special.

Since we only had one table, I decided to put our tasting plates in the center to save space.

I’ll share how I built the table using what we already had, but if you don’t have some of these items, I’ll list alternative ideas and inexpensive DIY ideas.

* Items look best when added to odd numbers. So if you are using two cake pans, one large jar or mason jar or three smaller jars will work just fine. If you have a cake plate, place it in the center and cover with two layers of cheesecloth. Make sure it’s not too long because you want the center to be easy to talk about.

** I made a cake plate out of scrap wood and small ramekins from Goodwill. I have a very simple lesson. You can also use a chalkboard on top of the book if you’re having trouble. The product fills in the gap so it’s not too noticeable. Or if your book is beautiful, it can add a nice creative touch.

Step One: Clear the table and add key items. As I said earlier, the incredible number of objects is the most pleasing to the eye. I like to add a tall object like a cake plate so that the center is level.

Step Two: Add a small bowl (for a dessert tray) and a candle. Play with placement. Put some on the cake plate and arrange the rest with the sauce. Aim for balance rather than symmetry in the natural landscape.

We collected magnolia leaves from our yard last fall, washed them to hang every Thanksgiving, and our oldest daughter wrote their names in silver permanent marker.
