The seatless chair attaches to the legs using a series of straps that lock into place with the push of a button, and the straps can be adjusted to suit the height of the user.
The company says its goal is not only to improve the ergonomic environment for its employees through proper posture, but also to eliminate and prevent other health and safety issues.

Wearable Noonee Chairless Chair Improves Workers’ Productivity
The seatless chair supports up to 220 pounds per leg and locks into position where the user wants to sit. It then opens when the user gets up to walk.
Noonee co-founder and CEO Keith Gunura told Fortune that Audi, BMW, Daimler and Airbus are interested in the seatless chair.
He said in the video (below) that the company is trying to create “a simple exoskeleton that solves just one problem.” The company plans to produce about 10,000 units this summer.

In 2014, we reviewed the Noonee Chairless Chair, a portable chair designed for workers who are on their feet all day without a place to sit. The chair without seats, which was a prototype at the time, began to be produced and was used by major companies such as Daimler and Audi. At the recent Wearable Technologies conference in Munich, we had the chance to chat with Noonee about the finished product and test our mettle (or, we guess, waist) while wearing an exoskeleton-like chair.
Our favorite part of the annual Wearable Technology Conference is how it expands our understanding of the world of wearables. With ISPO right around the corner, we always look forward to more fitness, health and fitness wear, and this conference certainly has it. But there are also other tools and equipment that we have not thought of, one year of burning a permanent security system and the next of the portable seat.
According to Noonee, the German workforce is aging rapidly, and the number of workers over 50 is expected to double by 2021 compared to 2011. The study also shows that unemployment increases with age, threatening a decline in the workforce. The operator of the sick days: muscle tissue and skeletal problems.
Launch Of The Chairless Chair Announced
So what do we do? Noonee offers a humane solution rather than throwing out the old generation and replacing it with a younger, healthier, cheaper, harder-working workforce – giving today’s aging workforce a place to rest their tired muscles and rest their bones.
Noonee believes that its chairless chair is a cost-effective way to solve the problems associated with working muscles without the need for major repairs to the factory (read: no major labor costs). This chair promotes better health, fewer sick days and more productivity by helping to reduce physical stress. Or at least that’s how the theory works.
The new Seatless Chair looks much better than the 2014 model. It is a simple biomimic piece that is secured by a belt, stirrup and thigh. The split plastic shows the original lines of the back of the leg and bends and moves with the wearer while the polyester seat rests under the backrest. When the user feels the need to sit, they adjust to their position, relying on the adjustable lock to hold the frame, creating an effective seat that supports their weight. The 2014 show used a battery-powered generator, but has since been converted to a mechanical system.
Exoskeleton Chair That Is Almost Invisible
The seatless chair is easy to set up in a minute or two, just put everything in place and fasten the straps. Various modifications are also available to customize your performance.
Again, the bare seat isn’t as restrictive as we’d hoped, and it works well. You won’t want to hike a long hill or run 5K with it, but it’s comfortable and easy to carry around the workplace, even though it weighs 3.4kg. More than 2014 prototype.
Setting it up takes some effort, and I had the benefit of having a company representative help me set it up, but once you get it set up, it’s a great way to lighten the load.

The rep was also very helpful in finding me so I didn’t stir the kettle which I think can happen when you get too comfortable and lean too much. But it’s not because Noonee is just selling customers on a chair without a chair. They are sold directly to companies for use and include training with the product, training a member of staff who becomes the point of contact for the company’s employees who use the chair. So people will probably be trained enough in advance not to go through the production lines.
As someone who has a real problem with what a chair without a chair is made of (ie, I spend a lot of time working behind a desk), a chair without a chair was not something that appealed to me. For times when I’m on the move all day, like walking the floor of a trade show, a wheelchair is more difficult than it should be because of the distance and amount of walking – walking isn’t just short distances. The Noonee House, however, was not designed to be moved up and down in large theaters. And anyway, I’m not limited in getting a seat or a break.
However, the seatless chair seems to work well for the workers it was designed for.
