First, start by creating the top of the chair. There are many different ways to do this, depending on the tools you have. If you have a band saw, it’s faster to use 4×4 wood for the top. But for this tutorial, we will use simple tools like a jigsaw to cut the top seat button.

Make sure the boards are not bent before cutting the wood. Otherwise, large gaps will form between the floors of your chair.

Now take a piece of 18″ length and draw the shape of the seat as in the picture. If you want the arc to be deep or shallow, you can change it to your liking and mood.

When the arc is drawn, clamp the board on the work table and cut the curve with a jigsaw. Now take this board and trace the button on the remaining 18″ long pieces. You want to make sure the button is the same on all seat boards. Then cut the button on the boards.

Before installing the boards, take a random orbital sander and sand the edges of the seating boards. This will move the waste edges to avoid large gaps between boards. If you have a planer, use a planer instead of a random orbital sander. The designer will smooth the edges of the board.

Now apply wood glue between the boards and glue them together. Let the adhesive dry for several hours, preferably overnight.

When the wood glue is completely dry, cut a 1/2″ length of 17″ from each side of the seat with a hacksaw. This will make the ends of the seat flat.

Grab your random orbital sander and sand around the seat. Start with 80-grit sandpaper and work up to 300-grit.

There are many different ways to DIY bar stool legs. You can cut at different angles to make the top of the leg thicker and the bottom thinner. Or change the angle or legs to be smaller. But for this tutorial, we’re going to use a 2×2 tree with some simple corners.

For this step, you will need to use a miter saw, which will allow you to adjust the bevel and miter angles. Therefore, before making any cuts, set the bevel of 5 degrees and the bevel of 3 degrees (see picture to determine how to set the bevel angles with the miter). Before installing the boards, take your eccentric sander and sand the feet to remove burrs. It is easier to sand the layers that are not connected to each other.

Now, turn the fabric 3 degrees and cut two 8″ long apron boards and two 10″ long rest boards. Then make two pocket holes in each layer.

Take the two foot pieces and attach them to the apron boards using wood glue and plastic bags. Then attach the leg mounts to the sitting board using 2″ wood screws. Finally, insert the two rear feet between the leg joints.

Grab your random orbital sander and go over the entire DIY table with 300 grit sandpaper. It is ready to be painted and painted. If you’re using pine wood, it’s a good idea to seal the wood before applying it to the skin to protect the skin.
