I decided against the “frame” method because I was afraid that a solid concrete table would be too heavy. I decided to build a frame out of pressure treated pine and cover it with cement board and thinset. Remember to wear a protective respirator when cutting Dust is not safe to breathe. Once your cement board is cut, apply construction adhesive to the frame and install the board with cement screws. These screws are designed to hold cement and do not drill holes like standard screws. Continue adding cement board to the frame

The last step is to apply thinset to the cement board This step is easy and you should be able to move quickly Get a 3 gallon bucket and mix the thinset You want the texture to be like frosting Use from a trowel to apply a thin layer of cement board where you think the concrete will be. You want to work quickly, but take the time to make sure all the thin sets are ready
When the thin layer becomes hard to the point where the material feels like clay, you should grab a wet sponge and smooth the material. It feels like a table and looks really simple! Wait until it's completely ready to move This post is completely late, but here we go!! If you've been following along on Instagram, you know we spent a few weekends building a concrete outdoor dining table! First of all – WOAH, that project was much more complicated and difficult than I thought it would be to begin with. To be honest, I thought it was a weekend project (more like 3 or was it 4?) We didn't have a complete list or plan to be honest, I knew the dimensions in my head and sketched them out on paper and let my vision go (I consult a lot with my very nice husband!) My inspiration was beautiful outdoor dining table that was out of budget Our goal was to stay under $250 for our build, but we opted for more expensive concrete (especially for the counters), which changed our budget significantly , and a 6″ x 6″ thick leg (vs.) a full 4″x4″). We still got it for under $400 and I feel great (especially knowing I can't buy a nice dining room table at Target for that price!!).
