4. Add a piano hinge to the back of the desktop so the desk can pivot up and down. Cut one side of the hinge to the desk and the other to a piece of poplar 1×4 the length of your desk.
5. To make the legs, cut 1×4 poplar 3/4″ (or whatever thickness your desk is) than the height of your desk.
6. Make a small rectangular box in front of the desktop. The legs will be attached to this box and positioned as if the legs were attached to the wall. Use 1×4 poplar to build the box. Make sure the length of the box can accommodate the legs. Draw four sides of the rectangle under the desk.

7. Attach the hinges to the ends of the legs, then fold each hinge half into the box you just made. Place the legs so they fall on opposite sides of the box and both go into the box while the table is under the wall.
8. Add curved metal to each leg, screw one side to the leg and the other to the inside of the box.
When this desk is not in use, the legs fold up and the computer falls off the wall.

10. Attach the table to the wall. Make sure the legs are flat and the desk is level before attaching it to the wall.

When building a folding picnic table, it is important to have a light table that can be easily moved. So I decided to build my table out of cedar wood.
Cedar wood is lighter than other wood options and has many advantages for an outdoor table. Cedar is naturally resistant to insects and weathering.

Tabletop pieces snap together quickly and easily with a Craig jig. I prefer to build with the new Kreg 720, but their cheaper 520 or 320 jigs are great for beginners or smaller spaces (I also use them in my shop).
The most difficult part of the build is the legs. The legs are made from 2×4 lumber and one end needs to be rounded to allow for movement when folded.
I used a band saw and sander on the edges of one leg. But you can use a jigsaw and a sander to do this.

The last trick is to make sure the holes in the legs are straight. If they are not at a 90 angle to the board, the screws are not properly seated.
If you have a drill press you can easily make nice straight holes, I don’t. So I used this controller. This helps keep your drill bit straight as you drill. Or you can do a jig like they do in this video. Marilyn thought it would be nice to have a small folding table when we are camping. Punch a “1” in the center of each foot. I attached both legs to match.
Drill a 1/4″ hole in one leg facing away from one side. Countersink a 3/8″ hole in the head of the locking screw.

Place the head of the screw far enough away from the table support and catch the notch in the legs.
Add all the nuts, but not too many. As you strengthen them, the table will be stronger but harder to bend.
