First, my story: I’ve been wanting to rock chairs on the front porch for years now. A few weeks ago, Greg bought us two beautiful wicker chairs. They were a brown color that didn’t go with our house so she painted them. But the seats are still the awesome seats that came with it in the first place. I’m not a beige girl. So we went to the fabric store and picked up a bright and cheerful outdoor fabric. But the fabric has been sitting for a while without me doing anything. Does it feel familiar?

But yesterday afternoon was a glorious day and I knew it was time to put those ugly pillows back. It took just over an hour to retrieve the two-yard pad from start to finish. First, lay the fabric on the surface, draw a pattern on the side, and then place the patio cushion on top. Place the patio pillow on top of the corner of the fabric, placing the back of the pillow up and leaving enough room on the side for the fabric to wrap around the edge of the patio pillow. If the fabric is too wide or too long, adjust it now. Make sure there is enough fabric on both sides of the patio pillow (I left an extra three inches on each side).

Next, pull the fabric up and over to completely cover the patio cushion. Your clothes match the top. Leave an extra three inches of fabric at the top and trim the excess.

Once the fabric is placed on the patio pillow, sew the two sides together. If the pillow has a short back like mine, I recommend skipping the last pin and marking in another way, like on a pin on each side of the fabric. or manufacturer’s mark.

In the picture above, you can see that instead of pinning the seam together, I’m making a pin mark.
