How To Make A Homemade Ping Pong Table
Note: This is not a control table! This table measures 4′ x 8′ and the adjustable table measures 5′ x 9′. The heights are almost identical.

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a board. You can take it home and cut it yourself, or they will cut it for you in the store. Cut the width in half to make 2 – 4'x4′ panels.
MDF works best – a floor that doesn't wobble and gives the best bounce.
Place the saws in the configuration shown in the picture. The central saw should be straight in the middle of the table. The main slit should be perpendicular to the middle slit.

Place the panels on the saw horses. The net should go back. Lay the joint on the joint where the two panels meet and attach it to the table.
If you're worried about separating the panels, don't be. Unless I lean into the table, the panels have enough weight to stay in place.
If you want, use repair plates and attach the end of the panel to the other end of the panel. Then attach it to the second panel with thumb screws. Be sure to drill the pilot holes first! Thanks to the rotation of the thumb, you can attach and detach the panels by hand.

Pick up a piece of plywood at your local hardware store and cut it in half. Make sure you measure the car before taking it. 4'x4′ is tight (or impossible) for many. Trust us, going back to the store, struggling and returning everything or renting a van is a hassle. To avoid the confusion of the home improvement journey, do yourself a favor and measure your car first.
In one of the two panels of plywood, we will work in advance to install the wooden parts. We're already digging in here. We will continue to install later. All you have to do here is drill a hole slightly smaller than the insert in each of the four blades.

You can find the position with a 5 inch angle wrench. Place it on the end of the pump and mark two holes. We continued to bend our stem over the top of the plate to make the net stretch even further.

Apply the polyurethane according to the instructions on the can. Since we got a pretty thick coat with two layers, we chose triple thickness polyurethane. After the first layer is completely dry, we wash the plastic at 220 degrees to make sure it is nice and smooth before applying the second layer.
Place a threaded hex nut on the end of the machine spindle and insert it into the wood part. You want to adjust the hex nut so that it is attached to the end of the bushing and the machine screw is about halfway into the wood bit.

With this arrangement, you can insert wooden inserts into pre-made holes. Be careful when turning the interior upright.

Add masking tape to your ping pong table (on the side that touches the storage table). This will help prevent scratches on the pool table and ensure the ping pong stays in place. Place masking tape near the edge where the panel rests on the pool table rail.

How To Make A Ping Pong Table Top For A Pool Table
I'm not going to lie, there are mistakes in my pictures, but the shots have been edited later so that my mistakes don't happen again. Typical of my posts on 100Things2Do.ca – I like to make mistakes and save myself trouble.
(2) Cut your plywood or hardware store in half to make a 48″ x 48″ square
To begin building your own folding ping pong table, you will need to drill 3/4 inch pocket holes on three sides of a 48″x48″ piece of plywood. The manufacturer's instructions for the pocket hole saw are 2 inches apart on one side and then drill one pocket hole every 6-8 inches.

Attach the side panels (48-inch boards) with wood glue and 1-inch pocket screws. Place the side boards as close to the top of the ping-pong table as possible (you can see this below).
Attach the 49 1/2-inch board with pocket holes, again with wood glue and 1-inch pocket screws.
From the 2×6 boards (now 2 inches by 4 1/2 inches), drill pocket holes 6 inches apart on one side. Use wood glue and attach it to the bottom of the ping pong table between the side boards. Predrill and drill 2″ outside 2″ wood screws (2).
