This table saw sled uses reclaimed wood and relies on a few precise cuts and straight pieces of wood. Here’s how to make your own:
A caliper is essential for accurately measuring the track of a table saw. You will also need three solid squares to set the slide cut blade, which will determine whether your cut will be square or not.

Almost all table saws have a standard miter track size of 0.75″ wide x 0.375″ deep. Before making any cuts, it’s a good idea to check the dimensions of your miter rail.
A digital caliper has four measuring points: outer (larger jaw that extends beyond the object to be measured), inner (smaller jaw that extends beyond the object to be measured – passes through the larger jaw), depth gauge (probe that protrudes at the back) and external depth gauge (the face of the hammer head of the calipers and the main shoes of the movement side – for example).

We use hardwood like oak here because it is a solid and durable wood that is not prone to warping. Using this as our rail allows the car to roll smoothly and not get stuck on the meter rail.
Before checking your cut, it’s a good idea to clean the surface of the table saw and clean the miter track of any dust or debris. If you neglect this step, you will not be able to accurately predict whether your kit will fit in the right direction.
Make Your Own Crosscut Sled
Place the cut wood on the miter track to test fit. Try throwing a piece of hardwood on the rail and see where it stops, then roll the wood onto the rail to see how many toys or toys there are.
You’re looking for a tight fit without rolling and a smooth glide. If you get stuck somewhere, check the track to make sure it’s free of debris, then try sanding the hardwood part to fit. If all else fails, you can measure and cut another piece of wood until you get the right fit.

Apply a small amount of glue to the wood lengthwise, be careful not to use too much glue or accidentally put glue on the saw table. You will only need a little glue as we will be adding screws later to attach the hardwood to the plywood.

Drill pilot holes in lengths of hardwood and countersink each hole drilled. Hand-screw fasteners mechanically attach hardwood to plywood in each opening. The combination of glue and screws ensures that the two parts are securely connected.

It is important to countersink the hole so that the screw head will ride on the surface of the hardwood groove and thus not interfere with the movement of the rail.
The front fence of the sled (the part furthest away from you when driving the sled) does not need to be precise because it only serves to hold the structure of the sled while we cut the notch in the plywood.
I use scrap wood on the front edge of the plywood, just to make sure the scrap wood is perfectly square so that the surface will attach to the plywood correctly.

Before gluing on the slide cut, which should be the square for the blade, we need to make a reference cut. The back cut must be vertical and perfectly square to the saw blade to make an accurate cut.
