How To Build An Entryway Table
I missed most of the construction process, and shared that on IG, but many of you need plans/processes to do it yourself. So, here are the instructions below – I hope this explains it well without all the pictures!

1. Cut 10 2×4 boards to the desired length at a 45′ angle to one side. We are 31″ H.
2. Remove the first 2×4, use a 3″ green dowel before drilling a hole and drill 4 2x4s on the other side.
3. Once all 5 are joined together use a 3/8″ dowel rod and wood glue to join the two sides together. Spray to dry. Repeat steps 2-3 on the second side.

4. Cut the top boards 10 2×4 wide. We are 54″ W. Cut both ends at a 45′ angle.
5. Repeat the same process as the last 5 boards and center them using 3/8″ studs and wood glue. Hold to secure.
6. Next, using the router on a straight edge, cut across the boards until all the boards are level. Alternatively, if you have a plan use this step to connect all the ends.

7. Cut with a 1/4″ router to make it easier to make sure the router doesn’t bind or damage the wood. Once you’ve reached the depth you want, repeat with the router in two different locations.
8. To join the sides, use 3/8″ dowel rods and wood glue to match the 45′ angle on the sides and the 45′ angle on the top, repeat on the other side.
9. Use 3.5″ screws to fasten the table top to the bottom for extra support.

11. Fill in as necessary. If you choose to seal this product, I recommend Minwax Polycrilic in clear color, it will not have a yellow finish + it will not shine.
I used my usual stain mix: Minwax Provincial and Weathered Oak diluted with a little water. Then, add Valspar limewash glaze to every few boards to create a contrast on each board.

When it comes time to cut wood for your console table, you may be wondering: How long will my console table be?
Console tables can vary slightly, but for this tutorial, you’ll need four 2×4-foot boards. FYI: I used 1x2s to make the console brackets. You will need six pieces of metal that are 10 ½ inches long.

When my console was broken, I drilled my two supports on top of the console. They are placed ½ inch from the edge with 1 ¾ inch left on the other side. I used 2 ½ premium screws to hold this in place. These nails are cheap, but with their small heads, I think they are useful and invisible.
Pro Tip: Always drill a pilot hole before drilling screws into the wood. The inspection hole will prevent the tree from splitting.
Well, now let’s go back to the trees. For the two bottom shelves, you will need three 59-inch pieces of 2×4 boards. They are for everything together.

For the legs, you’ll need four 32 ½-inch pieces of 2x4s. Next, I put all my pieces together with a hand sander.
When it comes down to it, the type of wood you use for your console table doesn’t matter – just choose the type of wood that matches your home decor!
Hardwoods like oak, maple, mahogany, cherry and walnut look great and are available everywhere if you don’t have a type of wood in mind yet or aren’t sure where to start.

I showed you how I put together my table above. Feet are the second thing we cover. The first cover is ⅛ inch from the bottom and the middle cover is 16 inches from the bottom of each leg. To hide the nails, trim them 2 ½ inches from the back and sides. Take care that your nails do not come out.
Next, we attach the board to the legs using HeadLOK blade screws. I used these nails on our dining room table and dining table – be sure to check out this great DIY tutorial if you haven’t already! The best thing about these beautiful nails is that they are very pretty, so you won’t have to worry about showing off your finished product. You will need one of these in each corner of your console table – four corner holes in each corner.
