God hears our prayers, and his ears always hear the prayers of the righteous. Friends, when we pray to God, we have to believe that he hears our prayers and answers them in time.

But there are many people who pray but do not receive an answer and after a few days they move away from the faith. This is because their prayers are for their benefit, because God does not answer their prayers (James 4:3).

If we look at Solomon, we will find that he said to ask something from the Lord, but he did not ask anything for himself, but he asked for wisdom to guide the children of Israel.

In this sense, King David says that God heard my prayer, he did not turn away from me. I will praise him because my heart was pure and my Lord heard me (Psalm 66: 17-20).

In 2005 I moved to Colorado as a single. While living there, I loved walking and talking with the Lord. Nature was often my prayer closet – and the Rockies felt like home. So when I felt God leading me to leave in 2011, it was hard to go.
After I left, both as a single woman and later as a married woman, I often asked the Lord to let me return to Colorado. (My husband also lived there and loved it too.)

Over the years, my prayers became an “open palm” where instead of crying and hurting, I said, “Lord, this is what I really want, but I only want it if it’s your will.” My husband and I surrendered to what the Lord wanted to do.
Finally, after seven years of constant prayer, God answered and placed my husband and I in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. The way he responded was sudden and unexpected, and it brought joy to my heart to return to a place where I felt at home.
My prayer journey reminds me of John 16:24, in which Jesus says to his disciples: “Until now you have not asked anything in my name. Ask, and you will receive, and your joy will be full.”

I must admit I have heard or read this verse before and dismissed it in disbelief. Of course, God does not want us to see him as a magical genie that we use to grant all our wishes, but we need to ask.
What if we ask for more instead of believing that Christ doesn’t really care about our prayers? What if we dare to believe that maybe God has put some desire in our hearts and we want to ask them to be fulfilled? What if we choose to believe John 16:24?
The Lord wants us to ask so that he can give us great joy when he gives us an answer, which is what I had when I returned to Colorado. It’s not just that we’re back; this is what God saw me as. He heard me and loves me. And there is no greater joy than that!

This is the confidence we have when we approach God: that if we ask something according to his will, he hears us. And when we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked from him. (1 John 5:14-15)
Lord, how I praise you for the goodness you have shown me by not allowing me to live forever in sin. He will save me. And when my time comes, I will gladly receive the gift of death and return home. Amen.
