He welcomed Mintz to the committee, saying, “My daughter, Emily Isaacson, chairman of the Elkton Hall Housing Commission at the University of Maryland, is the farthest elected official to join us tonight. In a way, I think I was destined for this position. The first signs came from my childhood, when the weight of leadership and administration weighed heavily on me. When Shimoon chose me out of 45 classmates, I was very happy, but also a little scared. This was serious. I realized that my classmates’ safety was at stake. So I lived up to the title and did it with diligence and determination.
Since then, growing up in Beachwood has created unforgettable memories. Many of them help convey the history, relationships and perceptions of what has happened in the city over the last 40 years.
For example, when Beachwood Place opened, I took the glass elevator in the middle of the mall, which was very strange and exciting. I can’t say enough good things about this city.
I have fond memories of eating at Roy Rogers, visiting the B. Dalton Library, and hanging out with friends. Well, Barbara Janowitz and I are one of the few people who grew up with these special memories at City Hall, where I grew up in Beechwood.

My history here is watching my dad Sheldon eat his twice a month quick dinner on Monday nights before going to the Beachwood City Council meeting. He served as mayor for seven years. To get this position, he went around town handing out campaign materials and I spent days with him. I learned about balance, compassion and effective campaigning.
In addition to this civic education, I learned a little while running for mayor’s office. I was appointed in my first term, but after that I ran and lost, ran and lost, and ran again.
I believe these achievements clearly demonstrate my commitment to Beachwood, but also a record of service and hard work and support for this community.
My plan for managing Beechwood going forward is to work carefully on both a micro and macro level. As always, expect me to work closely with City Council members.

We want you to know that our efforts are not for one person. Instead, it features a number of heroes who work together to solve problems to achieve their goals. When problems arise, we solve them together.
On a more macro level, I try to maintain good relations with neighboring communities and have already reached out to some mayors. As a volunteer firefighter, I felt early on the need to maintain close relationships, especially among security guards.
As volunteer firefighters, we were able to get her several alerts a day. Our role is to increase the number of full-time firefighters.
With outside help, we were assigned tasks such as replacing air cylinders, pulling hoses, and connecting fire hydrants. A vivid memory is the fire in the Village Green apartment complex, which almost every fire department in the neighboring town responded to. Unfortunately, I lost my entire apartment.
Stories Mean Business
To give you a little idea of my thinking, I think it’s a place where I practice long-distance running. It all started in 2017 when my wife took a brisk stroll along the Beachwood Parkway on Shaker Her Boulevard. She tried to follow along but was uncomfortable.
I told him he couldn’t walk like that, but he could run. It was 6.1 miles when I thought it was a race. In just a few months, the 1/2 marathoner was able to run 13.1 miles.
Also on a family trip he went to Disney World in Orlando and learned about his weekend of his four day marathon at the resort. First day 5km, next day 10km, next day half marathon, last day full marathon.
