Matt: I’m thankful that my son was born in this really awful flyer season. Not that I want them to be bad, but there is some value in buying low and hanging on through the tough times, and probably learning a lesson from that. This means he will always be able to say he was a 22-year-old fan, which will actually mean he had his lean years. And when the Flyers finally win the Cup again, when he’s my age and I’m dead, he’ll be able to say, “Finally it all paid off, we’ve come a long way in my years as a fan.” and also “Gee, my dad would probably enjoy it, that’s a shame.”

Kurt: I’m thankful that even though almost all of us know how desperate this team’s current situation is in the short and long term, we can still find joy in moments and performances from time to time. It’s easy to say the Flyers should tank and, well…they probably should! But it’s nice that we can’t seem to get to the point where we can’t enjoy when they do something good on the ice. Nice stuff happens here, even if the big stuff is pretty dark. If you watch it all, you might as well enjoy what you can.
Kelly: I’m thankful for this community of fans who, despite the state of this franchise, are still involved and invested enough to get lost. IN EVERYTHING. Sounds smart, I know, but he means it. We could be the Arizona Coyotes without real fan commitment or interest because there aren’t that many. But they exist
From the US Even more Despite (mostly valid) complaints, most of us don’t seem to be going anywhere. Which means our big family of Flyers fans will be together, for at least one more year. Just like we did last year. Talking about line combinations, complaining about 4th line plugs, collectively hating head office. It’s actually pretty cool when you step back and think about it.
Thomas: I’m more than grateful that the Flyers are absorbing a lot lately. I also appreciate that we were able to have fun together and enjoy watching the first few weeks of this season, but it was overshadowed by the fact that this team has come crashing back down to earth; went off the side of a cliff, fell nose-first into the ground, or whatever analogy you prefer. It gave us a real sense of the realism of what this Flyers season is going to be like and how we can once again spend a few months looking around the NHL and hoping for the luck of the lottery. They have tough competition, but with their performance in recent weeks I think they will come in and be one of the worst teams we have seen. Good luck!
