A picture like this takes some amazing work: I talked about the mechanics of turning on sound pictures in this three-part series (starting here). To be honest, I originally intended to shoot the setup and other b-roll for another post, but the simple fact is that I'm always so busy filming that I don't have time. Instead, I'll talk about the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes.
It takes about half an hour to set up the lighting equipment for the first photo, a few minutes of setup and then you're good to go. But before that, there is also about half an hour of cleaning and dusting for every hour; you want to remove a lot of dust, fingerprint oil, etc. to reduce recovery time. This is especially important on all surfaces where you can see it, such as glossy cases, anti-reflective covers on the crystal and all case seams. An anti-static brush and blower finish the job. However, it is almost impossible to remove everything, so cleaning will be necessary later:

Often, what looks bad at web size will resolve to the correct detail in large text – you can remove it, and I often do this for smaller versions, but leave it to full resolution images.
